The "Baby" before the BABY Comes

So, last week Darin had told me that if I wanted to get a puppy I could and it could be an early birthday present. Of course, I took this and ran with it. I was on the computer the whole next day and found the most adorable little Boxer puppy for sale from a breeder. We went and picked her up that night.

She was 6 weeks old when we got her and we have had her for a week. We decided to name her Lucy since she has a ton of spunk and is feisty...the name seemed to fit. Call it a need to nurture something right now or all the prego hormones that I wanted a little puppy (aka. like a baby)...but she is so pickin' cute! I was up with her the first two nights since she cried and after that Darin said she lost her privileges and has been sleeping out side. Our older dog,  Lady Bird, was unsure of Lucy at first but over a week they have grown to love each other...or at least handle each other (more so on Lady Bird's part). Lucy seems to be like that annoying younger sibling that is always following you around and pestering you constantly, but Lady Bird doesn't seem to mind. Watching them together has been comical and fun and something to look forward to when getting home. Lucy has the small dog syndrome as I like to put it...she likes to go after the bigger dogs not realizing she is all of about 8 pounds...but it is funny!

Now we are in Puppy Training at home before the BABY comes in January!

Here are some pics of our newest addition...

She fell asleep in the shopping cart at Petco.

She was having fun chasing the beach ball till she popped it :(

A Preggo Investment Worth EVERY Penny

So last week I had decided to get a prenatal massage. I had been having some right lower back pain shooting into my bottom (lovely sciatic nerve)...so what better way to relax?!

My Sis-In-Law gave me a name of a place, WellSprings, in Seal Beach and I made an appointment. The price didn't seem that bad compared to other places ($80), but if you have any other places you would suggest let me know! I am hooked now!

I had no idea what to expect going in, but I am so glad I had one. When I got in the room I was told to lie down and snuggle up to the super soft body pillow with one leg on top. She began massaging my leg and it totally felt like I was getting a massage in my own bed! It is so much more comfortable than sticking your face in that little hole they tell you to on regular massages and feeling your cheeks get squished and then drooling onto the floor. Don't get me wrong, I love those too (squished cheeks and all), but the snuggling with a body pillow was just so much more comfortable. She then proceeded through the whole shebang massaging my legs, hips, back, arms, feet, shoulders, neck and head...it was AHH-Mazing!!! And I mean AHH-MAZING!!

I loved it so much that I already scheduled another appointment for an early birthday present for myself! I even thought as I left...I wonder if you could just tell them you are pregnant in the future and still get a prenatal massage. You obviously wouldn't be able to keep going to the same place...if your belly isn't growing that would be a dead giveaway that something is up! But hey, it may be worth a try in my future!

The bad part was I was so relaxed after that I wasn't motivated to do anything that day. I was completely embracing the whole spa mood...oh well its nice to have those days every now and then (the laundry and dishes will still be there...unfortunately). I realized after that I needed to invest in a body pillow as well and maybe get my hubby to be my masseuse! Haha...somehow he always expect a massage in return though...I guess I will just stick to paying for one!

Our Family of Two becoming Three!

So, I wanted to start this family blog to recap on fun and exciting events in the Haringsma House...I thought that I would share it and I hope you enjoy!

So, first on May 14th, 2011 we got a good surprise!

But it all began a week prior to this excitement. My hubby came to me out of the blue and said, "I'm Ready!" (As in to have a little one running around). Wow...where did that come from was my first thought then my second thought being you changed your mind fast in a week. But I wasn't going to complain.

From that week on I would check my temp in the morning before getting out of bed and write it down...all the stuff you are supposed to do when trying for a little one. The morning of May 14th I woke up doing the same thing I had done every morning for a week. I then got a weird feeling that something was up (sort of an inclination of some sort), so while Darin was at our Bro-In-Laws bday party that afternoon...I ran to get a test. The whole time thinking I've done this before and I know it is negative...I have thought I was pregnant every month...BUT to my surprise there were TWO Pink lines this time! I could not stop shaking and freaking out (in a good way of course). We had just started trying, but I was obviously already preggers!!!

Being that my Sis and Bro-In-Law live right down the street I called Darin to come pick me up to take me to the party. He walked in the door and he would not stop talking or give me a chance to tell him. Behind my back I was hiding a rolled up onsie that said "Dad Thinks I'm Number One" which of course was from another previous month that I thought we had a little surprise. I finally got a word in to tell him that I had something important to tell him and I handed him the onsie. He looked at it kinda of confused and said "Really?!?!" I then showed him the proof and he was out of this world excited!

The whole night was just surreal...we had our little secret and I had to fill up beer cans with H2O so no one would suspect. Because once you get married and  you stop drinking people automatically think you are preggers!

We couldn't wait to tell our parents so we had them over the following Thursday when I was only 5 weeks. The baby was the size of a nail head at this point so we decided to cut off four nail heads. Darin held onto them and out of no where asked them what they thought they were and that we had found them in the driveway. Right away our Dads knew what they were but they were puzzled as to why the nail was missing from the head. Then I told them that was how big their new Grandbaby was at this time. I can still hear my mom scream with excitement!!! We began to tell close friends and family slowly after that.

So we are now 16 weeks along. We have gotten one ultrasound and have heard the heartbeat twice and in 4 weeks we find out if we are having pink or blue!!! So stayed tuned!!

Our little bean at 8 weeks.
